Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of spatial composition within interior environments.
2. Communicate design solutions that are a result of research into interior design case studies.
3. Utilize design vocabulary in oral and written projects.

The goal of this class is to provide a foundational course that follows a studio model of hands-on investigative student work.

Basic model building will give students an opportunity to explore spatial composition within interior architectural spaces.

Oral presentation on a design movement and the individuals involved.  Design vocabulary will be required to be demonstrated.

Create design solutions that solve for client's needs in an abstract format.

Three-dimensional model created out of paper or board that students create to explore spatial composition.  This will be assessed with a performance rubric

Oral presentation will be assessed with a performance rubric.

Abstract and diagrammed solutions will be assess with performance rubrics.

Critical thinking as it pertains to interior design solutions

Analysis of design history from a position of inquiry and diversity.

Distilling design ideas into describable, abstract diagrams.
