Course Description
Introduces ASL phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language use, and the sociolinguistic structure of the language. Explores current research relating to the field. Prerequisites: Program admission and department permission.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

Describe ASL phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.

Discuss current research in the field of sign language linguistics.

Conduct research related to current language use in the Deaf community.

Activities include readings, lectures, cross-cultural activities, discussion, small group activities, and research.
