Explores broad range of job search techniques, including building a job network, compiling appropriate information for job applications, targeting cover letters and resumes, typical interview questions and techniques. Promotes overall understanding of the job search process. Covers strategies for: researching, preparing for, and acquiring a job.

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

• Perform research to make informed decisions about career options and education/training requirements for employment and advancement.
• Communicate effectively with peers and potential employers using  phone calls, email, professional networking and Informational Interviews.
• Continually develop and revise appropriate job search plans and materials.
• Prepare for and execute effective informational and job interviews.
• Create and maintain a professional social media presence to optimize networking opportunities.
• Continue to self-identify career opportunities and target specific jobs that match current skills and career goals.

A.  Identification of personal Job Skills

1. List and describe work history and work-related activities, and prior education, training and certifications.

1. Recognize resources for researching companies and jobs.
2. Locate and research a professional position.  Describe position title, duties and qualifications.

1. Determine proper resume format.
