Course Description
Continues development of digital music technology skills for musicians and music majors. Covers live performance applications, mash-ups, visual object languages, interactive media, and artist development and production. Includes industry and independent artist marketing practices. Prerequisites: MUS 171. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- Perform live music using digital music technology.
- Compose electronic music using a variety of conceptual and technical methods within the framework of identified stylistic practices.
- Create interdisciplinary music composition and/or performance using electronic music.

Course Activities and Design
- Complete projects/electronic music compositions
- Complete exercises for the purpose of learning the functionalities of various technologies within and beyond the music industry
- Engage in group discussions and evaluations of musical and non-musical works created by established composers, artists and peers
- Instructor demonstration of technology within a historical and cultural context
- Create artist narratives commenting on the rationale for one's own process and work and its relationship with the processes and works of others
