Course Description

Provides the opportunity to sing in a small vocal ensemble. Includes directed rehearsal and performance. Includes possible local, regional and/or other off-campus public performances. Audition required. Audit available.

Division of voices may be adapted to suit enrollment (SATB, SAB, SSA)
 

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion students should be able to:

  • Use a beginning understanding of musicianship and performance etiquette to perform basic-level repertoryto a public audience as a member of a small vocal ensemble.
  • Use a beginning understanding of basic-level music literacy to prepare and rehearse basic repertory as amember of a small vocal ensemble.
  • Use a beginning understanding of rehearsal techniques and etiquette to follow a conductor,annotate music, and be a contributing member of a small vocal ensemble during rehearsal.

  • Attend rehearsals and learn individual parts
  • Follow musical ideas as instructed by choir director
  • Learn , prepare and perform vocal music from printed notation
  • Accurately notate and execute musical ideas as instructed by choir director
  • Hold harmony in conjunction with other vocal parts
  • Accurately learn foreign language lyrics to choral works.
