A little about me
I joined the CDC teaching team as a mentor teacher in the Bumblebee classroom in 2023, after working with children and families for nearly two decades. My career in early childhood education began in the role of classroom assistant in a Montessori infant and toddler community, while also studying child development at PCC. I continued on as lead preschool and kindergarten teacher for over a decade in various child-led classroom environments, including Montesssori, Reggio inspired, RIE (respectful parenting) and Forest School. I built on my teaching practice while supporting neurodiverse elementary children in movement and mindfulness enrichment programs. Through my experiences, I’ve developed a passion for anti-bias education and nurturing meaningful relationships.
My approach to being with children is rooted in respect for the big work of childhood. The opportunity to follow the children’s interests and share in their wonder and discovery fuels my work. Becoming a parent myself has elevated my empathy for fellow caregivers, while deepening my commitment to being a resource for families and helping high quality early learning programs flourish.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy practicing yoga, tinkering in the garden with my chickens, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband and son.

A little about me
I am deeply passionate about early childhood education, with a strong belief in the importance of secure attachment as the foundation for a child’s emotional and social development. My approach to teaching is centered on creating a nurturing and responsive environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow. I am committed to fostering strong, trusting relationships with the children in my care, understanding that these connections are vital for their overall well-being and future success.
Building meaningful relationships with families is another cornerstone of my educational philosophy. I believe that collaboration between educators and families is essential in supporting a child’s development. By working closely with parents and caregivers, I strive to create a cohesive and supportive community where everyone feels valued and engaged in the learning process. Open communication, mutual respect, and shared goals are key elements in my approach to family partnerships.
My husband and I are proud parents of four wonderful children, aged 21, 18, 18, and 13, who bring joy and inspiration to our lives every day. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time in nature through camping and hiking, where I can disconnect and recharge. Crafting is another passion of mine, allowing me to express my creativity in various ways. Additionally, I have a love for reading, especially non-fiction, as it continuously broadens my knowledge and perspectives, enriching both my personal and professional life.
