1. Portland Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry: Sunnyside Neighborhood Pruning Workshop
Join the Sunnyside Street Tree Team (S2T2) on Saturday, February 13th!

- Learn and practice basic pruning techniques in small groups (3-5)
- Prepare young street trees for long, healthy lives!

- RAIN OR SHINE! We recommend long pants and long sleeves, sturdy shoes and a rain/sunhat, rain gear (and water bottle). Instruction, tools, gloves, coffee, water and snacks will be provided.

2. Friends of Trees: Volunteers Needed for Tree-Planting Fun in East Portland – Feb 27th!
Friends of Trees invites the PCC community to join us at our next neighborhood planting in the neighborhoods of East Portland on Saturday, Feb 27th! This planting will take place in the Argay, Parkrose, Parkrose Heights, Russell, and Wilkes neighborhoods. Spending a few hours to plant trees with us will bring health, economic, and social benefits to this area for generations to come!
When: Saturday, Feb 27th, 9am-1pm
Where: St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 10029 NE Prescott St. Portland, Oregon 97220
Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered in time to enjoy some free breakfast snacks and hot coffee/tea. The event will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide gloves, tools and guidance–no planting experience needed! Be sure to come dressed for the weather, wearing sturdy shoes, and get ready to have fun! And be sure to stick around after planting for a delicious neighborhood potluck lunch!

3. Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District

I. Event Photographer Needed
We are looking for a skilled photographer to attend events across the district and capture the spirit of the event on film. This is a great opportunity for students or professionals just entering the field of photography to get more experience and build their portfolio.
Flexibility is key. Most events are scheduled on weekends and/or evenings. Events are all across the district, so volunteer must have reliable transportation, as well as personal camera and photo software as needed.
II. Middle School Track & Field Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the activities at the spring middle school track meets, which will be located at high schools across the Beaverton area. Volunteers will help time events, direct participants, and manage activities like the long jump or javelin throw.

4. Oregon Battle of the Books: Volunteers Needed for the Oregon Battle of the Books!!!
Region 1 Tournament | Saturday, March 5th
8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

How can you help? – We need volunteers to serve as Moderators! What is a moderator? Basically, it’s the person who runs each battle. Here’s a snapshot:
- Receive training on battle rules and practices
- Read the questions to the teams during battles
- Make sure the battle is run by the rules, provide final decision on results
- You do not need to read the books!
A special moderator training will be held at the Hillsboro Main Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy., Hillsboro, 97124 on Feb. 27 in the multi-purpose room from 10-11 a.m. Email obobregion1elementary@gmail.com if you will be attending. At this session, you can sign up for the preliminary round, from approximately 9:30-10:30 a.m. on March 5th; single elimination round from approximately 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or both.
