JOIN: Day Space Volunteer Positions for Summer

Summer Volunteer Positions at JOIN
The Day Space Volunteer?position gives volunteers a meaningful experience and many opportunities to talk?to folks experiencing homelessness and hear genuine stories of their experiences. ?Volunteers typically work either a morning shift, from 10 am – 12:30 pm, or afternoon?shift, from 12:30 pm – 3 pm.
Our day space, fondly known as The House, is a basic resource center where people?previously or currently experiencing homelessness can have a cup of coffee and feel safe?and warm. They can also receive services to help them survive outside and to help them?get off the streets such as showers, lockers, mail, internet, laundry vouchers, and?phones. We run on a barter system instead of a charity model in order to preserve the?dignity of folks who access our services. This means that in exchange for services,?people give back to the community space by doing barter work such as cleaning?bathrooms or showers, sweeping and mopping, and more.?Our hours are 10 am – 3 pm, Monday through Friday (except every 2nd Friday of the month).
