El Programa Hispano Catolico: Seeking Spanish-speakers to help the low income community – no experience necessary!
Posted by hannah.cherry
Our tax program is completely volunteer-based—the more volunteers we receive the more low-income taxpayers we are able to help!
El Programa Hispano Católico in Gresham provides the Latino community free tax preparation, providing vulnerable taxpayers a trustworthy alternative to unlicensed tax preparers and to paying to prepare their basic tax returns. Last season our volunteers helped more than 1,000 taxpayers secure over $2 million in refunds.
Orientations provided in December, free training starting December 30th. Trainings tend to fill up, contact us soon to secure your place. We look forward to hearing from you!
Volunteers without prior tax knowledge
No prior tax knowledge needed for the follow opportunities, we provide the free training!?We are seeking bilingual individuals to volunteer as tax preparers and intake assistants 5 hours per week January 24th to April 17th. Evening/weekend shifts available.
Volunteers with tax experience
Volunteers with tax experience are needed to help as trained quality reviewers, a role vital to the capacity and success of our program. We ask for 4-5 hours per week during tax season. Spanish is helpful but not required. Continuing Education (CE) credit is available for your volunteer service hours.

About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter
The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
