PCC Queer Resource Centers: March with PCC at Pride Festival on Sunday, June 17th!
Posted by Madison Omohundro
PCC’s Queer Resource Centers invite you to volunteer or participate in Portland’s Annual Pride Festival!
Pride is a time of recognition and celebration; it’s also a chance to stand in solidarity against heterosexism and cissexism.
Pride began in June of 1969, when queer and trans people, primarily trans folks of color, protested following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City. This uprising was the watershed moment in the modern queer and trans right movement and the impetus for organizing pride marches on a much larger scale, both nationally and internationally.
While we certainly have made great strides, it is clear that we have a long way to go. Pride exists for our right to live without persecution, our right to live authentically, and our right to love whomever we choose.

About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter
The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
