The Social Media Intern will support the ReBuilding Center increasing and sharing exciting, dynamic content to promote our nonprofit mission and engage our community. In the course of this work, the Marketing Intern will receive mentoring in nonprofit marketing methods at a vibrant organization committed to inspiring people to value and discover existing resources to strengthen the social and environmental vitality of communities. this entry-level internship is designed for an individual interested in expanding nonprofit marketing skills and content creation experience.

Schedule:
  • 15-20+ hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
  • Minimum three-month commitment, ideally starting May 1 or June 1
Responsibilities:
  • Help maintain the ReBuilding Center’s regular presence ?across our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) by creating and posting content that is compelling, branded to our voice, and concurrent with our mission.
  • Help build brand awareness, transmit messages to key audiences, drive traffic, and encourage participation with/to our store, programs, and services.
  • Help capture stories through writing, photography, and video about ReBuilding Center services and programs as well as topics that relate to our social and/or environmental mission.
  • Support the production of weekly blog posts and MailChimp newsletter campaigns, including a weekly Today’s Finds e-newsletter highlighting new and interesting store inventory.
  • Help monitor social media calendar, coordinating with team members as needed.
  • Potential:
    • Design flyers, banners, social media, and other collateral images
    • Measuring primary social media metrics through Analytics tools
    • Other digital marketing and design opportunities as they arise (e.g., website updates)
Qualifications:
  • Social media channel management/content creation experience ( e.g., Facebook. Twitter, Instagram)
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and quick to respond to rapidly changing assignments
  • Photography and photo editing skills (e.g., Photoshop, Lightroom)
  • A Plus: Graphic design skills (InDesign, Canvas, etc.)
  • Must be tech savvy with online social media channels and computer programs
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Ability to be mobile to capture stories off-site on occasion (such as a DeConstruction job or tiny home installation)
  • A commitment to positive social and environmental change and the mission of the ReBuilding Center
  • Ability to work via computer and telephone and lift some file boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • We prefer, but do not require some relevant experience with nonprofit organizations or in an office environment.
