January 18, 2016 (Monday) – MLK Day of National Service

Location: Mt. Hood Community College and surrounding community organizations (bus transportation to be provided for PCC volunteers)

Join over 700 students honoring the legacy of Dr. King by uniting to volunteer and serve as one community. Volunteer Registration is now open! Space is limited, so register today to reserve your spot!

1. Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership: Salmon Creek Volunteer Planting – November 14th | Dig it, Plant it, Do it Again!

Help plant trees to benefit the local habitat of Salmon Creek! Named for the historical salmon runs of the past, it recently regained its status as a salmon spawning ground thanks to the help of local volunteers.

All ages welcome. Fun for groups, families and individuals. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Tools, gloves, warm beverages and snacks are provided. 2. Active Children Portland: Volunteer Opportunities to Assist Underserved Youth

We need volunteers for several upcoming events at Active Children Portland! The tasks at these events will include setting up/breaking down soccer fields, assisting field managers during games, and selling concessions.

November 14: Turkey Cup Family Event from 9AM-3PM at Lincoln Park Elementary School

November 21: Fall Soccer Tournament from 9AM-2PM at Alder Elementary School

3. Benson L?MP:ARA : Volunteer Opportunity at Benson Polytechnic H.S

Volunteer to be a College Access Coach! L?MP:ARA coaches are college students who work with high school students in small groups throughout the school year.

What does a College Access Coach do?

  • Mentoring, Tutoring, Training

Are there any other requirements?

  • Identify as Latin@
  • Currently enrolled in College
  • Committed to serving for the remaining of the school year (Now through May 31st)
  • Comfortable talking about race, privilege, and equity

4. PCC Sylvania Multicultural Center: Volunteer for PCC Sylvania’s 17th Annual Winter Pow-Wow!

Do you want to volunteer at PCC Sylvania’s 17th Annual Winter Pow-Wow? The Sylvania Multicultural Center is looking for volunteers to:

  • Work the Kids Activities Area
  • Sell Raffle Tickets & T-Shirts
  • Set-up & Clean-up the event
  • Check-in Volunteers & Vendors
  • And more!!!

Family, friends, and community members are welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will need to attend one drop-in Volunteer Orientation session on either one of the following dates:

  • Monday, January 11, 2016 | Drop-in between 9:00am – 1:00pm
