DISCUSSION ITEMS

Kendra shared a spreadsheet she prepared for Karen Jolly’s use. The Curriculum Committee reviewed 325 courses this year. 143 courses were reviewed by the 4 credit sub-committee.

Merging Gen/Ed and Transfer Lists

Kendra did some extensive searching and found that 24 courses are on the AAOT, but NOT the Gen/Ed list. There are 17 courses which are on the Gen/Ed list, but are NOT on the AAOT list. There are 138 courses which are on both lists.

4 Credit Conversion

Nan has identified that all courses which are on the Gen/Ed and Transfer lists will need to be considered by the 4 Credit Conversion committee. Kendra will be presenting a proposal to the EAC that all courses converting throughout the next year will have an implementation date of Fall 2006. There will be no mid-year changes.

There was discussion about needing separate meetings for 4 credit conversion issues during the next year. It was decided that it would be best to continue with separate meetings.

Discussions with Nan and the EAC will need to be started about the possibility of SAC not acting on courses which need to be converted to 4 credits.

Credit for Prior Learning

There was going to be an ad-hoc committee looking at credit for prior learning. The EAC is working on still creating the committee membership due to the elimination of the co-chairs positions with the budget cuts. When the committee is finalized, Kendra would like the Curriculum Committee to be involved in the process.

Membership

Kendra presented a list of members for next year. The list is:

Dietrich Steinmetz, Marlene Eid, Adrian Rodriguez, Doris Werkman, and Dan Findley. Those renewing membership will be Kendra Cawley, Pam Kessinger, Joe Wright, Jeffrey Josifek, and Diane Kamali. Moe O’Connor will be on the committee if she is not still an interim division dean next year. The new members will be Jim Straight, Scott Leavitt and Shari Rochelle. There needs to be more representation from professional-technical programs. Kendra received a few suggestions and will be contacting other potential members.
