Activities and ongoing work
Support Engage Empower (SEE)
Trina Hing [opens in new window] co-lead this group’s activities that include the Student, Staff, and Faculty of Color Coffee Hour which occurs weekly. For people of color, an affinity group is a place to work with peers on their experiences of institutional, imposed, and internalized racism, a place for healing and to work on liberation.
White Affinity Group
Samm Erickson [opens in new window], Jeff Laff [opens in new window], and Katy Lewis [opens in new window] co-lead this group that meets 2-3 times per term. In the context of racial equity work, affinity groups provide spaces for people to work within their own racial and ethnic groups. For white people, an affinity group provides time and space to work intentionally on understanding whiteness as a racial experience.
