Co-op/Internship and Independent Study
International For-Credit Independent Study and Internships
Students interested in completing a coop or internship abroad should talk to an Education Abroad advisor (email studyabroad@pcc.edu) as well as their relevant Internship Specialist. Visit the PCC’s Co-operative Education page to get started.
Students interested in completing an Independent Study project abroad must work with an instructor who is willing to supervise the Independent Study (see Independent Study page for details) and with the Education Abroad Office (email studyabroad@pcc.edu).
PCC For-Credit Independent Study/Co-op/Internship Possible Locations
PCC’s current approved provider organizations have the capacity to support students undertaking independent study/research or co-op/internship placements in the following locations:

Notes Regarding Placements
- For all options (independent study/research, coop/internship with placement arranged by provider, and coop/internship with placement pre-arranged by student), the provider organization will provide visa/work permit compliance and assistance; international insurance including medical evacuation and repatriation; pre-departure and on-site cultural and practical orientation; and 24/7 emergency support while on site. There will be a program fee charged to the student by PCC for these required services. The fee will depend on the location and length of the program.
- Additional services (including arrangement of housing, liaison with/oversight of internship placement, cultural activities, and access to additional academic options such as language study) may be optional or required depending on the site and type of placement. There will be a program fee charged to the student for any additional services.
- For independent study/research and student-arranged placement coop/internship options, a particular country, or location within a country, may not be able to host a particular proposed activity depending on factors such as time of year, length of placement, disciplinary focus, etc.
- For provider-arranged coop/internship placements, placements in a given location may be limited to particular disciplines/professional foci and/or specific organizations.
- PCC does not allow students to engage in PCC-credit-bearing activities in countries that have a current Department of State Travel Warning or a CDC Level 3 Warning
