Step 3: Accept the job
After your interview, the supervisor may offer you the position. Congratulations! Accept the job only if you don’t have misgivings about the job responsibilities, the workplace, or the supervisor. Remember your student success – don’t place yourself in a position that won’t be successful for you. Before you start working, you will need to complete some important paperwork that ensures you will be paid on time.
-
Complete your paperwork
Complete the following forms. If your job is at a PCC campus, you will complete these forms with your supervisor. If your job is off-campus, come into a Financial Aid Office to complete these forms.
- Federal I-9 Form – to complete this form, you must bring acceptable identification
- Federal W-4 Form – this form determines how much is withheld from your paycheck for taxes
- Direct Deposit Form – fill out this form so you won’t have to make a trip to the bank to deposit your check (ask your supervisor for a copy of the form)
-
Set up your schedule
Your supervisor will know that your education is your priority and they will work with you to create a schedule that works around your class and study schedule. Though supervisors will be flexible, keep in mind that like any other job, you will be expected to work the hours that you arranged with your supervisor. Now you’re ready to go onto Step 4: Begin working!
