Jim & Lora Meyer
Portland has always been a very welcoming community. When we moved here from Boston in 1960, we expected to be here for a year or two; but Portland had other plans for us. We raised our family and built our life here. We were provided many opportunities within this community and have loved calling Portland home for almost sixty years.?
We have tried to give back to the community in multiple ways, and have encouraged our children and grandchildren to do the same.
We decided to become Champions for Opportunity to support the work of Portland Community College in providing ready access to a good education right here in our area. We have high hopes that students graduating from PCC will decide to stay in this region and build successful lives for themselves and their families. With a solid education, a world of opportunity awaits them here in our own back yard.
