It is easy to feel lost as we try to carve a place for ourselves in this world. We need to find ourselves, define who we are and have the courage to take on the challenges, explore the mysteries and live honestly as we move through the journey of our lives.
The expressive potential of the human form changed the course of my journey. Each time I approach the figure, I consider that it may be the last. This keeps the experience fresh and in the moment. I fall in love. When I come face to face with the white page, this white page which once was fearsome is now one with me. We are inseparable and complete. When I accept the possibilities of that blank paper, the power of nature is revealed.
It is the responsibility of the artist to become the medium for these creative forces. They move through us and become realized: two-dimensional and three-dimensional expressions, choreography, song, music, theater, fashion. We are also channeled through them. These muses capture us and allow us to move in spiraling circles away from the mundane, fusing the human and the divine. If we are willing to embrace these forces, we become inseparable from them. In the face of tragedy and darkness, there is no road map. Art triggers our senses and creative instincts, and with it we transcend our grief, are given clarity and renewed hope.
It is difficult to sustain this embrace. On a good day, we are able to contribute to this one universe. To be in perfect harmony with the sprit world and the forces of nature releases us from fear, allows us to comprehend our freedom and raises us to a level where there are no boundaries.
