Marcus Mastrud | “Busy Bee”

Using magazine paper, I took a line from William Blake's "Proverbs of Hell" ("A busy bee has no time for sorrow") to create a triptypch (three-panel) partially non-objective image. I used magazine articles focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on students to make up the backgrounds and larger shapes, then used the blue/orange colors and textures from the images of those articles to put together the remaining shapes. I was contemplating the mix of work/school culture with serious illness, and how I sometimes feel "too busy" to process the grief that comes with COVID.
