In this paper collage project I explored 2-D design techniques to create palpable space. Using magazine clippings, with three found images, I utilized overlapping, patterns, and scale to create tension and perspective within the artwork. I created this just as Russia had invaded Ukraine, so instead of creating something “pretty” I intentionally created something that would evoke emotion. The three found images in this piece are of a Japanese citizen walking through the aftermath of Hiroshima, an image of American soldiers, and an image of Mother Teresa. The star figures in this piece represent the explosion of bombs.
