A drawing in black and white of a woman with antlers. She has flowers coming out of an open mouth that reach towards the sky. She has a slight halo around her. She has no neck. In its stead, attaching to her head is simply her vertebrae which travels down her spine and is then cut off by solid black sky. A ribbon wraps around the flowers from her mouth.

This drawing was a product of our class “tape drawings” assignment. Using tape, we block out spaces and/or use tape in our final pieces. In this project, I explored the use of tape as a blocking/spacing agent. The ink wash was experimental as to not give her body a solid form. As for the graphite, it was important to use to render human visual qualities.

A drawing in black, white, and red. A pair of bright red lips is in the center with slight teeth showing. Inside the mouth is a spiral of tape descending into the mouth. Covering the whole image is gridded lines through the lips. In some squares made by the grid is black squares, with white pencil lining them to make them look shiny.
