Nell Tremagne | “shelter as rhythm”
This media file is attached to: Drawing
This was my submission for the week 7 assignment, which was to create a drawing that included words from the “End Poem” from Minecrafty. I chose the words “it dreamed of shelter”, which recalled for me all the issues surrounding the mistreatment and displacement of homeless people in Portland, and my own brushes with homelessness. I had been doing a lot of studies based on “asemic” (non-semantic) writing at the time, and this was my best attempt at trying to represent the structure and rhythm of poetry in an asemic style. The shape of the asemic components is meant to echo an urban landscape, and the words are kept under “cover”, so to speak, to further symbolize the theme.
