This drawing is done with ink, calligraphy pens, and a paintbrush. I had the opportunity to explore diluting the ink, giving me a range of different gray scales to work with. I normally stick to just black and white, so this was a bit of a challenge. I chose to do a portrait of Nipsey Hustle who was an extremely influential artist, performer, entrepreneur, and activist. His message of adversity being an opportunity to triumph resonates with me. Life is a marathon, not a race. There may be setbacks, but the marathon continues.
