Nell Tremagne | “a plea (to the god of putting out fires) and; a plea (to the god of false starts)”

These were my submissions for the final assignment in Drawing I, Winter term. It’s a meditation on substance abuse and mental illness, as well as grief and loss— intended to be a diptych, the two pieces occur in sequence and depict a shift from calm and collected— sober— to breaking down, lost and disoriented. It should be noted that the dim lighting and the indentation in the page in the left panel is meant to represent unresolved interpersonal issues, and the skewed lines and strong directional light in the right panel represents divine revelation.
