Welcome to Foundations of Interpersonal Neurobiology
On behalf of our faculty and department, I would like to welcome you to our Foundations of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) program. Whether you are looking to start a new career, expand your knowledge to support your clients/patients, or simply learn new ways to support health and well-being, we are delighted to support your learning and goals.
IPNB, or relational neuroscience, provides a valuable framework for understanding and supporting health and well-being, behavior change, learning, teamwork, and much more. The teachings apply widely to almost every career field. Working with others informed by the lens of IPNB often proves inspiring and meaningful, knowing that you are part of a growing community contributing to support people in holistic ways.
Portland Community College has been proud to help students explore IPNB and enhance their careers in this field for nearly 10 years. We are excited to support you during your studies, and later as you begin your work and contribute to others.

About Foundations of Interpersonal Neurobiology
The Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) program is a non-credit certificate program housed within the Healthcare and Emergency Professions pathway of Portland Community College.
Other health programs within this pathway include: Herbal Medicine, Ayurveda Yoga, Clinical Research, Medical Laboratory Technology, Phlebotomy, Eye Technician, Nursing, Health Information Management, and more.

Mission and values
The mission of the Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) program is to provide high quality, student-centered training based on IPNB, including:
- Communicate the value of IPNB and application for health and wellness, education, mental health/addiction, parenting and relationships, early childhood education, and other fields;
- Promote integration of research findings on the brain/body and relationships to create healthier minds and a healthier world;
- Prepare professionals with foundational knowledge and practice of IPNB to continuously critique, extend, and amplify the knowledge base of the field;
- Provide high quality education in IPNB to people who work at the intersection of brain/body, relationships, and mind.
The program offers students of all ages, races, cultures, economic levels, and previous educational experience opportunities for personal growth and attainment of their professional goals. Through effective teaching and student support, we strive to prepare our students for success as individuals, business, healthcare, and other professionals.
Values
The PCC Interpersonal Neurobiology program values student engagement and mutual respect with everyone involved with the program, and strives to provide foundations for student success through a worthwhile curriculum that is practical, theoretical, and of high quality.
The program provides the environment to propel self-examination, mutual sharing and discovery, and support learning for people with multiple backgrounds and careers, including health care professionals. Everyone in the program is enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and all students and staff are respected.
Goals and objectives
The goal of the Portland Community College Interpersonal Neurobiology program is to deliver a high quality, widely applicable, professional development program, enabling participants to enhance their career and/or chosen field of study.
Accreditation
Portland Community College is regionally accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). For more information, see the college’s Accreditation webpage.
Costs
Program tuition, fees, and costs are as follows:
- Tuition: $2,499 for the entire program
- Fees: $45
- Required books: (can be purchased used or new from any bookseller)
