Job placement
Although the MLT staff does not provide job placement services for students or graduates, notices of available positions are received by staff and posted for student information.
Certification and licensure
Graduation from the PCC MLT program qualifies individuals to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other equivalent certification examination. Graduation from the program is not contingent upon students passing any type of external certification or licensure examination. At this time, Oregon does not require state licensure for medical laboratory technicians; however, students should be made aware that other states may have specific requirements outside of national certification to work as medical laboratory technicians. It is the student’s responsibility to research those requirements when applying for employment in states other than Oregon.
