Music and Sonic Arts Alum James Hickey Shares Industry Insight

After graduating from the PCC Music and Sonic Arts Program in 2020, James transferred to PSU, where he earned his BA in Sonic Arts and Music Production in 2023. He immediately started working after graduation. His music career has included a role as an Event Assistant at Revolution Hall, work as a freelance audio and live sound engineer, and time as a performing singer-songwriter.

Fifteen students were in attendance to hear James offer insight about finding a career in the music industry today. In addition to detailing some of the skills necessary for success, James also shared the story of how he got started in the business.

James’s perspective was incredibly valuable for students looking to learn more about life in the music world after PCC. As one student put it, “I’m very happy we had James as a speaker. His various roles are aligned with my goals.”
