Web browsers
A web browser is a program that lets you view and navigate websites. Different web browsers work better for different things and different websites. Although you might like using just one web browser for everything, it’s a good idea to have more than one web browser on your computer.
Please note that none of the browsers listed on this page support Adobe Flash, Silverlight, or Java.
Common browsers
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox is a well-liked web browser and is often suggested by the Student Help Desk. We recommend it because it tends to be more reliable across its updates compared to other browsers, and it works well with D2L.
Mozilla Firefox can be downloaded for free from mozilla.org.
Google Chrome
Chrome is another popular web browser that more people are using lately. It’s the best choice if you use a lot of Google Apps like Google Mail, Google Drive, and Google Hangouts. Since our school’s email is managed by Google, Chrome can be really helpful if you’re using these apps a lot.
If you want to use cool school-approved tools like Read & Write, or online meeting tools like Zoom for your classes, Google Chrome is a great option.
Google Chrome can be downloaded for free at: google.com/chrome.
Microsoft Edge
Windows 10 comes with a new browser called Edge, which takes the place of Internet Explorer as the default browser. Edge runs on the same engine as Google Chrome, which makes it a good choice for similar reasons.
Apple Safari
Safari is the standard browser for Mac computers and is included with macOS. We recommend it for Mac users because it works best with the macOS system.
