2021 NISOD Excellence Award Recipients

NISOD’s Excellence Awards recognize folks each year who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues; nominations were made by supervisors and colleagues.
We are proud to announce our recipients of the annual NISOD Excellence Awards. The 2021 honorees are:
- Beto Espindola for excellence in serving pre-college students to break barriers and improve access to college.
- Magda D’Angelis-Morris for updating the Dental Assisting curriculum to address equity in Dental Assisting.
- Matthew Brehm for excellence in addressing IT Customer Support as we transitioned to remote work.
- Linda Fergusson-Kolmes for creating TLC programming at Sylvania that addressed equity and for aligning her curriculum with culturally responsive practices.
- Naho Katagiri for building a food pantry at SE and ensuring students have access to food during the pandemic.
- Emmitt Wyche for aligning advising practices with YESS and shifting the culture in advising to becoming student centered.
- Angela McMahon for her work with COVID reopening processes and her willingness to dialogue with those who bring forth concerns and frustrations.
- Kendi Esary for her 25 years of inspiring students to become socially conscious and being a catalyst for helping students access support to stay in college.
- Loren Perry, as the buyer at the bookstore, for his incredible efforts to get computers and books to students during remote operations.
- Alicia Adams for her guidance and compassionate response to international students during the pandemic.
