Job Summary
Under the direction of management, develops and conducts business process and systems training for college staff. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs curriculum and delivers training in a range of formats for college staff on various subjects including using college supported business process systems, software, and tools.
- Designs, develops, indexes, and maintains technical documentation using a variety of college applications.
- Collaborates with peer trainers and systems managers to ensure business process training needs are met across the organization in a consistent manner.
- Creates and implements project plans, develops cost estimates, monitors timelines, and works to ensure deadlines are met.
- Consults with assigned departments/units to analyze business process-supporting technology needs such as reporting, and documents processes for end-user retrieval of data and/or information. Promotes the use of technology and technology tools to support continued efficiency and improvement in departmental processes.
- Collaborates with IT to respond to new systems account requests, including Banner, Argos, Perceptive Content, etc., and follows up with users related to procedures for business processes. Supports operational areas as assigned to supplement existing staff and validate curriculum.
- Serves as a resource for business process training materials in response to faculty, staff and/or student needs. Monitors end-user feedback and process changes to evaluate and improve training effectiveness
- Attends and participates in campus-wide and departmental meetings and committees to discuss business process related issues and contribute to departmental projects as a team member.
- Evaluates emerging training technology and tools.
- May maintain assigned departmental web pages and support departmental staff in web page related efforts. Documents processes and policies related to content development in collaboration with IT’s web and media services teams.
- Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work environment is in an office and includes typical computer-related noise levels and paper or equipment generated dust. Frequent travel between campuses and off-site locations. Must constantly keep up with software and system upgrades in order to support end-users. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding and use peripheral equipment. Occasional lifting of equipment or materials. Extended periods of sitting or standing to perform computer applications or conduct training.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a computer-related discipline, education, or related field is required. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Two years of experience documenting, training, and supporting end users on systems software or business processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Adult learning techniques;
- Data management tools;
- Web development tools and languages such as such as HTML, JAVA or Perl;
- Instructional design concepts for business process-based training;
- Practices and associated systems operations and tools for area of assignment.
Skills in:
- Working with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff;
- Project coordination;
- Explaining complex technical concepts in plain language;
- Maintaining positive relationships;
- Coordinating multiple projects concurrently;
- Documenting technical processes.
