Nature and Scope of Work
Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction, the Education Center Coordinator schedules and coordinates all PCC classes and services at the Hillsboro Education Center. The coordinator serves as the primary PCC representative to the Hillsboro community.
The incumbent coordinates and oversees a broad range of services such as admissions, assessment, counseling, information center, advising services, High School Completion, transfer services, retention, and other related services to assure student success. The position will have day-to-day responsibility for the services offered at the Hillsboro Education Center. Key responsibilities include the development of a campus-wide advising program, coordinating the delivery of advising services with other campus programs, and providing direct support for areas such as High School Completion, Transfer Advising, Program Advising, and International Student Advising.
Principal Accountabilities
- Functions as the primary representative for PCC in the Hillsboro community under the leadership of the Dean of Instruction and Dean of Student 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网ment at Rock Creek.
- Serves as a generalist to coordinate all activities at the Hillsboro Education Center; implements college policies and procedures and maintains records according to requirements of the college and its programs.
- Determines the appropriate course and service offerings in collaboration with the Rock Creek campus personnel and the Dean of Instruction.
- Coordinates and provides student services for the Hillsboro Education Center, including admissions, assessment, advising, counseling, information center operations, and other student services; ensures the scheduling of academic assessment and advising, and other services as needed.
- Coordinates the planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of student services for the Hillsboro Education Center; assists in the development of manuals, guides, and other material necessary for efficient and effective administration of the Education Center.
- Directs and coordinates the work schedules of all Hillsboro Education Center employees; serves as the lead worker for Center employees and participates in the staff performance appraisal process and provides feedback as needed; facilitates problem resolution among staff and assists with disciplinary procedures.
- Serves as a liaison between the Center and the comprehensive campuses/district level services in such areas as student activities, career services, counseling and advising, registration, financial aid, business office, bookstore, parking, and public safety. Ensures that students receive effective services, and that procedures and events are implemented professionally; in the lead worker capacity, may coordinate the activities of staff members working in these areas, even though they may report to Central Services or Rock Creek Student Services.

- Performs academic advising, including evaluating transcripts, counseling students regarding goals, and evaluating placement tests; refers students to other offices and community resources and serves as an advocate.
- Reviews lists of students who do not meet academic standards, and provides advice and assistance to help them return to good standing.
- Assists in the development and monitoring of the budget for the Hillsboro Education Center.
- Serves on committees at the Center, Rock Creek Campus, and district level, as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Physical Requirements
Travel between campuses and various remote sites requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle. Occasional lifting of boxes for presentations, which may weigh up to 50 lbs. Long hours of standing on concrete floors during advising fairs and recruitment activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Demonstrated experience in program coordination. Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations. Experience working with students or clients in advising and developing goals. Experience assessing student needs and reviewing or evaluating transcripts and placement test scores.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Considerable knowledge of techniques for compiling and reporting information.
- Knowledge of assessment, admissions testing, and interpretation and application of test results, registration procedures, financial aid, counseling and other support services.
- Knowledge of student retention strategies.
Skills in:
- Skill in operating a computer and various supporting software packages.
- Skill in effective advising techniques.
- Skill in delivering public presentations and designing training sessions.
Ability to:
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including AV equipment.
