Nature and Scope of Work
The Family Preservation Project Coordinator provides leadership, coordination and oversight of the day-to-day activities in the Family Preservation Project and the Family Resource Center housed within the Coffee Creek Correctional Institution.? The Project and Center provide a variety of education, social services, workshops and intensive case management designed to help incarcerated mothers, their children and caregivers to break intergenerational cycles of poverty, addiction and criminal justice involvement.
Principal Accountabilities (includes some or all of the following)
- Leads, coordinates and provides oversight regarding the day-to-day activities and training of the Family Preservation Project and staff. Direct student, work study, casual and volunteer staff. Hires and trains student workers to carry out programs, tutoring/instructional support and other activities to promote learning and development. Participates in performance evaluations and corrective action with staff.
- Coordinates the delivery of information and assistance to inmates and their families seeking support through the Family Preservation Project and the Family Resource Center, (for example, referrals to community resources information, crisis intervention, case management, and community organizations).
- Coordinates recruitment, enrollment and retention of inmate mothers seeking assistance from the Family Resource Center, and provides case management for program participants.
- Provides transition and re-entry services, information, and assistance to women returning to the community from prison, including intervening in multiple systems to ensure a successful transition out of incarceration.
- Plans and monitors budget for the Family Preservation Project and Family Resource Center located within the correctional institution, in collaboration with the Director.
- Initiates and coordinates the development of grant proposals and solicits donations that advance program goals.? Oversees implementation of grants and donations awarded to the project to ensure grant guidelines are being followed. Works with local government and state agencies to advocate for legislation and secure ongoing funding for the program.
- Acts as a liaison to community partners and relevant government agencies to ensure the goals of the Family Preservation Project are being met.
- Participates in program planning and development including oversight of annual evaluation of program, gathers and analyzes data to inform partners regarding program design and service delivery and represents the program to work groups and conferences for internal and external partners.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a correctional facility and in multiple office settings.? Incumbent may regularly drive to office sites or other state facilities.? Occasional extended periods of time sitting at a computer.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel to various sites and transport materials may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology required. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Demonstrated clinical experience mediating, coordinating and facilitating services for disenfranchised populations.? Experience working with women and families in a case management and clinical setting.
