Nature and Scope of Work
The Sr. Volunteer Literacy Tutor Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing district-wide program oversight. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for prioritizing services, recruitment, assessment, instruction, and evaluation of a large student population in the Adult Basic Skills Division. The Sr. Coordinator also recruits, trains, and provides overall supervision and evaluation for Tutor Coordinators, classified staff and volunteer tutors. Incumbents work collaboratively with program staff and the community and initiate, negotiate, and maintain site agreements.
Principal Accountabilities (includes some or all of the following)
- Coordinate volunteer tutors and students. Ensure volunteer tutors are appropriately trained on current curriculum. Evaluate student/tutor similarities and make appropriate team matches. Troubleshoot placement problems. Supervise the delivery of instruction.
- Direct staff and volunteer tutors. Participate in recruiting, screening, interviewing, and selecting Tutor Coordinators and classified staff. Provide oversight to Tutor Coordinators on volunteer tutor performance issues.
- Collaborate with the ABS division in conducting the student intake process. Conduct testing and evaluate and interpret results. Provide advising on available adult basic education classes. Provide advising and referrals for students with special needs.
- Ensure students are correctly registered. Work cooperatively with other college staff and departments to ensure a smooth process. Compile quarterly and annual reports for the Literacy Program and the college regarding student progress, attendance, materials and methods, number of volunteer tutors and students, and hours of instruction.

- 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网 and supervise the Resource Center. Evaluate and purchase materials, software, books, etc. for volunteer tutor access. Maintain lending library. Provide orientations on Resource Center use and proper use of computers and AV equipment.
- 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网 and coordinate community outreach. Meet with executives and officials in negotiating site usage. Maintain contracts. Market program throughout the community.
- Assist in the development of the annual program budget, write budget reports and monitor established budget. Justify expenditures.
- Negotiate state funding for the tutoring program including tutor training. Research and write grants and monitor compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with the state tutoring system in providing professional development and coordination of statewide program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Occasional extended periods of time spent talking on the telephone or sitting and working at a computer. Requires the ability to work evening and weekend hours.
Physical Requirements
Training sessions requires the ability to drive to training locations and involves moving and lifting materials and equipment that may weigh up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, ESL, or related field. Master’s degree in same desirable. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Demonstrated experience coordinating programs utilizing large numbers of volunteers. Demonstrated experience in program management and resource development.
