Job Summary

The Testing Lead trains, mentors, schedules and directs the work of other testing staff and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Testing Center. This includes working with supervisors to develop and update services, policies and procedures in response to changing demands; scheduling and publicizing services; communicating program policies and procedures to the campus and community and maintaining the integrity of the testing environment.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Testing Lead differs from the Testing Assistant in that the Lead is responsible for ensuring critical and necessary services to students, staff and faculty at large are provided.? Testing Leads provide solutions to situations that are escalated from Testing Assistants.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Trains, mentors, schedules and directs the work of other Testing staff, including hiring and supervision of work study and casual employees.
  2. Provides information and guidance on matters involving testing to staff and the community.
  3. Creates staff schedules, testing schedules, and ensures college and federal standards are maintained in regard to testing.
  4. Reviews and revises testing processes and procedures as needed by working with peers, faculty and management.
  5. Maintains security of tests and materials; reviews procedures for security, ensures secure storage and returns all test booklets and related materials to appropriate testing companies.
  6. Maintains records and reports related to testing operations, prepares quarterly and annual reports to the Management.
  7. Resolves problems/issues referred by Testing Assistants; escalates to management when necessary.
  8. May be the point of contact for information in the absence of the Associate Dean of Students.
  9. May perform work of Testing Assistant as needed.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office setting. Work pressure from deadlines and daily interruptions of workflow are expected and occur on a regular basis.? Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding functions.

Minimum Qualifications

High school education or equivalent.? Two years of post-secondary education in relevant coursework is required and two years of experience working in an administrative or other similar environment is required. ?Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Policies and procedures related to admissions, registration, testing, and placement;

  • Applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations;
  • Available college and community resources and/or programs;
  • Databases such as Accessibility Information Management (AIM), Banner or similar.

  • Interpreting and assessing data related to student progress persistence, retention, completion and transition;
