Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Media Services Manager, oversees the work of the Media Services staff at each campus and ensures the availability and operational effectiveness of audio visual, assistive technology, distance education and related software for the college.? Responds to work situations with minimum guidance or direction and guides, reviews and assists in the evaluation of classified staff.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs any and all duties of the Media Services Coordinator for an assigned campus.
  2. Oversees and coordinates the work of district-wide media services staff including assignment of work, training and providing input to management regarding staff performance evaluations.
  3. Coordinates and oversees the work of outside contractors.? Serves as the point of contact and delegates the maintenance, failure recovery and safety monitoring of work practices.
  4. Ensures the availability of assistive technology for the college and collaborates with assistive technology faculty and administrative representatives.
  5. Oversees enterprise level programs such as classroom monitoring software, equipment scheduling systems and inventory control.? Performs project planning and organizing including defining functional objectives and develops procedures for implementation.? Leads problem solving efforts for media technology.
  6. Provides information and assistance to faculty, staff and/or students regarding the operation of audio visual, assistive technology, distance education and related software.? 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网s and maintains training handouts and user help documents.
  7. Ensures that appropriate inventory control procedures for media technology are developed and implemented. Maintains detailed records to track life expectancy of equipment and to plan for replacements.? In collaboration with the Media Services Coordinators, coordinates classroom installations and replacement schedules.
  8. Leads efforts to research, test and purchase new technologies for instructional and assistive technology for the college.

  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree or two years of college level coursework in computer science discipline, media services or related area.? Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.? Three years experience working with various types of computer software and hardware, operating audio visual equipment and using automated recording systems. One year must have been in a lead capacity.

Knowledge of:

Current computer software packages which may include HTML editors, web browsers, email ftp, MS Office, computer operating systems, web design software, WebCT and the operational aspects of audio visual equipment.

Ability to:

Coordinate media service projects and oversee the work of staff; meet college expectations regarding customer service; interact effectively with students, the public and college staff; manage time/multi-task; communicate effectively through oral and written mediums; coordinate activities with other internal departments and outside contractors; organize and maintain records; analyze and resolve problems under minimal supervision; learn quickly and apply knowledge to new situations; oversee and train others in the operation of audio visual, assistive technology and distance education equipment; remain calm under high pressure situations.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an office environment, library sites, instructor offices and classroom settings.? Incumbent must stay current on presentation and assistive technology equipment and software.? Exposure to video display terminals occurs with varied frequency.? Use of carts and hand trucks required.? Regular lifting of audio visual and assistive technology equipment/materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds for troubleshooting, repairs, etc.?
