clapping smiling graduatesUnder the direction of management, the Tutoring & Co-Curricular Manager oversees multiple service locations providing direct student-facing academic support, such as the Student Learning Center, Reading/Writing Center, and Tutoring Services. Provides additional oversight in Co-Curricular areas such as Learning Gardens, Environmental Centers, MakerLabs, and STEAM/STEM Centers. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the Student Learning Center, Reading/Writing Center and other related centers and programs; ensures efficient operations, responds to facilities-related matters, and optimizes resources.
  2. Manages academic support programs such as classroom-based embedded tutoring and supplemental instruction. Manages programs such as the STEAM/STEM Centers, Learning Gardens, and staff to support student study groups.
  3. Manages district tutoring programming and services. In collaboration with internal and external partners, identifies programmatic needs. Assesses service delivery, quality, and effectiveness, and ensures coverage to meet demand.
  4. Supervises tutors, academic professionals, paraprofessionals, technical/support, classified, and/or casual staff. Hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary. Trains and directs the work of part-time faculty and staff who tutor. Works with HR to ensure compliance with workload thresholds.

Ensures alignment and consistency with practices, procedures, and services across the district.
  6. Markets centers, programs, and services and recruits students as appropriate. Prepares and delivers presentations regarding academic support services and programs; facilitates meetings on program services and issues; attends professional conferences and training sessions.
  7. Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information in various formats; performs needs assessment and modifies programming accordingly.
  8. Aligns activities with college strategic plan and student success measures; determines and implements retention measures.
  9. Participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate; represents the College on on local, state, and national committees, advocacy groups, and/or other related groups. Confers with a variety of governmental agencies and other organizations regarding program issues and best practices.

  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.? Occasional travel within the district and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Administration, Management, Communications, or related field. Three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to student services in post-secondary education, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR Bachelor’s degree in any field AND five (5) years progressively responsible experience related to student services in post-secondary education, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR seven (7) years progressively responsible experience related to student services in post-secondary education, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
