grad with cap and confettiUnder the direction of management, the Student Accommodation Manager supervises, trains, and evaluates a team of staff responsible for reasonable accommodation for students. The Student Accommodation Manager serves to promote full participation of students with disabilities and is responsible for processes such as accommodation coordination, communication with instructional faculty, and resolution of concerns. This role works to ensure student success and retention in support of PCC strategic initiatives. The Student Accommodation Manager develops and implements policy and procedure in compliance with external regulations and internal policy, and aligns programming with best practices in higher education.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages the Disability Services Office locations at each campus; ensures efficient operations, responds to facilities-related matters, and optimizes resources.

Ensures alignment and consistency with practices, procedures, and services across the district.
  3. Maintains the accommodation management system and ensures the system has appropriate categories, descriptions, and templates to support the accommodation notification process.
  4. Works with students on accommodation needs and evaluations. Liaises with vendors for contracted services.
  5. Provides training to staff on best practices in accommodation processes and services.
  6. Supervises academic professionals, paraprofessionals, technical/support, classified staff, and/or student and casual employees. Hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary.
  7. Participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate. Represents the College? on local, state, and national committees, advocacy groups, and other related groups; confers with a variety of governmental agencies and other organizations regarding program issues and best practices.
  8. Markets centers, programs, and services and recruits students as appropriate. Prepares and delivers presentations regarding accommodation and related academic support services and programs; facilitates meetings on program services and issues; attends professional conferences and training sessions.

  10. Participates in division goal setting and planning, including short-term and long-term planning.
  11. Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information in various formats; performs needs assessment and modifies programming accordingly.
  12. Aligns activities with College strategic plan and student success measures; determines and implements retention measures.
  13. Reviews practices and processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  14. Serves as a liaison within the College in order to provide information on available resources, programs, and/or services.
  15. Participates in and supports activities that enhance equity-minded recruiting, hiring, and employee retention practices.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and some evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required and possession of a current Driver License. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Administration, Management, Communications, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Three years (3) of progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

OR Bachelor’s degree in any field AND five (5) years progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

OR seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience related to student accommodation in post-secondary education, including two years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
