HIM – Health Info Management Instructor Qualifications

Full-time HIM Instructor Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, master’s degree preferred AND current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator AND three years’ work experience in the Health Information Management profession.

Part-time faculty requirements: an?Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management AND current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) AND three years work experience in the Health Information Management profession.

The below HIM courses have?qualifications?that differ from the p/t faculty minimum?requirements due to their specialized content:

HIM 128, HIM 129
  • Meets the qualifications as a biology instructor
HIM 270, HIM 273 and HIM 275
  • Current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or?Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or
  • Acceptable coding credential (CCS, CCS-P, CPC), AND three years coding experience using the coding systems covered in courses.
