Library Media for Instructional Use

Library Media for Instructional Use

This page explains the many ways faculty can find, get, and use library media materials for their classes.

Check out physical media from the library

PCC Library’s media collection circulates for six weeks to PCC users.?If something from the library collection is checked out or otherwise unavailable, please contact us. It is possible that we can get the video for you through Summit or interlibrary loan.

Instructors can place DVDs on reserve at the campus of their choice.?Items on reserve can remain there for a full term or up to three years. ?This includes instructor/department-owned DVDs as well as DVDs that are part of the library collection.? See Course Reserves for Faculty for additional information.

Ebooks

PCC Library subscribes to several ebook collections. Look for ebooks in the Library Search. Type in a search term in the “PCC Library & Summit” tab. When the results come back, select those that say “ebooks”. ?Click the “View It” tab and follow the link that is offered.? See Ebooks for additional information.

Streaming videos

PCC Library subscribes to several streaming video collections that cover multiple subject areas.? See Streaming Videos for additional information.

Images

Images can be found in multiple databases, but ARTstor is an image-only database containing over 1.5 million digital images.? ARTstor’s tools support viewing and analyzing images, saving groups of images for personal or shared uses, and creating and delivering presentations.? See [link to image type databases] for other databases containing images.
