US Bank Honors Excellence at Portland Community College

For the ninth year in a row, US Bank has supported the efforts of Portland Community College faculty and staff with the PCC-US Bank Faculty and Staff Excellence Award program. "These individuals are nominated by their peers and represent the PCC focus on excellence in teaching and dedication and service to students," said PCC President Dan Moriarty.
John Eskildsen, president of US Bank, and PCC Foundation Board chair Jill Eiland presented cash awards to the winners at a special reception and ceremony on March 19 at the Cascade Campus. Full-time staff received a check for $1,000; part-time employees earned a $500 award.
The 1996-97 PCC-US Bank Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards were given to Amanda Ellertson, student leadership coordinator at the Rock Creek Campus and a resident of North Portland; Ginny Finders, a GED adjunct instructor at the Cascade Campus who lives in Northeast Portland; Kathleen Harriman, administrative support in the Engineering, Math and Technology division at Sylvania Campus and a resident of Lake Oswego; Clark Hochstetler, faculty member for the Office for Students with Disabilities at Sylvania Campus and a resident of West Linn; Reuel Kurzet, faculty member in the ESL program at Sylvania Campus who lives in Southwest Portland; Gary Lesniak, a psychology instructor at Sylvania Campus and a resident of Southwest Portland; Randy Murphy, an English composition adjunct instructor at the Rock Creek Campus who lives in Southeast Portland.
Also honored were Loraine Schmitt, a coordinator in the Distance Learning department at the Sylvania Campus and a resident of Aloha; Gwenn Schultze, a speech instructor at the Rock Creek Campus who lives on Sauvie Island; and Pat Semura, an English as a non-native language and speech instructor at the Cascade Campus, a resident of Beaverton.
The awards committee this year consisted of Portland Community College Foundation board members Sam Brooks, Jim Ellison, Kerry Gillespie and PCC President Dan Moriarty.
