Photos and story by Mark Evertz
Can the "race" of Kennewick Man be determined? Should tribal rights over artifacts take precedence over scientific, legal or political claims and concerns?
The Division of Social Sciences at Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus has scheduled a forum to discuss the scientific, legal, political and cultural issues concerning the Kennewick Man case.
The forum is set for Thursday, Dec. 4, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Little Theater, CT Building, Room 227, the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Panel members include Jeff Vanpelt and Katherine Harrison, tribal representatives; Doug Hutchinson and Alan Schneider, attorneys; Chuck James, Bureau of Indian Affairs; and PCC anthropology faculty William Wihr, Robert Keeler and Lyle Hubbard.
