Photos and story by

The Theater Arts department at Portland Community College announced recently that its winter term production this March will be "The Foreigner," a wacky comedy that takes place in a fishing lodge resort in Georgia. Performance dates are March 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13, 8 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.

Bill Dobson is the guest director for the play. Dobson, a well-known Portland area stage director, also coordinates admissions for PCC. Dan Hays, theater operations coordinator for the college, will serve as the designer and technical director. The cast is made up entirely of PCC theater arts students.

"The Foreigner" examines what can happen when a group of devious characters meet up with a stranger who they believe does not understand English.

Tickets, which go on sale March 1, are $5 for students and seniors, and $6 for general admission. They are sold at the Sylvania Campus Bookstore. Reservations can also be made by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at 977-4949, or tickets can be purchased at the door the evening of the performance.

For more information, call Sue Parks-Hilden, 977-4323, or Dan Hays at 977-4284.
