Rock Creek to Hold First Fall Plant Sale Oct. 22-23

Photos and story by

Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus is offering more of a good thing on Oct. 22 and 23, when its wildly successful annual plant sale makes a surprise fall appearance at the campus.

The annual event that usually coincides with Mother’s Day in May will show off perennials, ground covers, Japanese Maples and "much, much more!" at very reasonable prices, according to plant sale organizers. Plant sale coordinator Keven Caldwell said there will be a limited supply of as many as 40 different plant varieties on sale during the two-day event.

The sale will begin at 7:30 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. at the Rock Creek Campus Greenhouse on Friday, Oct. 22. The sale continues on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will go toward PCC Landscape Technology student scholarships and Landscape Technology course materials. At the Mother’s Day sale last May, more than $12,000 was raised for student scholarships.

For more information on the plant sale, contact Gail Nehilla at 614-7255. The PCC Rock Creek Campus is located between Beaverton and Hillsboro at 17705 N.W. Springville Road.
