PCC Expands Educational Offerings in Columbia County
Photos and story by James Hill
ST. HELENS – Columbia County residents now have the opportunity to enroll in more credit classes at Portland Community College for the fall term. The new classes include speech, economics and criminal justice. PCC continues to offer Columbia County students credit classes like accounting, English, writing, math, history, psychology, sociology, computers and ceramics."We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their general education credits, as well as increase their personal and professional skills," said Ed Kaiel, Community Education manager for North Portland Columbia County. "We’d like to offer more and more classes if community participation supports it."PCC Community Education could further expand the number of classes in Columbia County, but that will depend mostly on how current enrollment goes this fall term. Low enrollments in some classes have led to cancellations in the past and PCC needs at least eight students to hold a class. For more information on the new classes or any course being offered this fall term, contact PCC’s Community Education office at 503-397-1311, or 503-978-5753.
