Photos and story by

HILLSBORO – Making furniture isn’t just a necessity, it’s an art form and Portland Community College can help you become the Picasso of your next piece of furniture art. In PCC’s non-credit Rustic Furniture Making class you will learn that furniture can not only be form and function, but a whole new realm of creativity. The exciting craft of rustic woodworking will give students access to new and old methods of craftsmanship and help them think about wood in a new way. Students will get to use low-tech tools and common tree branches to make their own piece of rustic furniture art.The fee for Rustic Furniture Making is $75. The class will run every Wednesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m., starting Wednesday, Sept. 27 and ending Nov. 15. It will be held in room S158 at Century High School, located at 2000 S.W. 234th Ave. in Hillsboro.
