'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' Play Opens at PCC

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – The Portland Community College Theater Arts department at the Sylvania Campus has announced the schedule of its fall production, "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." The play, adapted by Christopher Hampton, is derived from the novel by Choderlos de Laclos and follows the seduction of the young and voluptuous Cecile and Mme. de Tourvel by Le Vicomte de Valmont. This stunning adaptation of this gripping play met acclaim in Stratford, London and on Broadway. The film adaptation, "Dangerous Liaisons," won an Academy Award.Performance dates are set for 7:30 p.m. each night starting on Thursday, Nov. 9, Saturday, Nov. 11 and Nov. 15-18 at the campus’ performing arts center, located at 12000 S.W. 49th Avenue. Tickets, which will be on sale at the PCC bookstore, are $5 for students and seniors, and $6 for general admission. Tickets are also available on the night of the performances. To make reservations, contact the PCC box office at 503-977-4949.Bill Dobson, a PCC admissions coordinator, will serve as the guest director and Dan Hays, theater coordinator, will act as set designer and technical director. Also, Margaret Louise Hetherington, part of the PCC theater staff, will be the costumer. The show on Thursday, Nov. 16 will be interpreted for the hearing impaired.
