Searching for a job? PCC's Annual Spring Career Fest May Have the Right One

CASCADE CAMPUS – More than 70 employers will take part in this year’s Portland Community College 2001 Spring Career Fest, which will provide networking opportunities for PCC students and graduates, people seeking new career options, and anybody wishing to see the multitude of employment opportunities. This year’s career festival will be from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 in the gymnasium on the Cascade Campus, located at 705 N. Killingsworth. Parking and admission are free.Kay Coryell, committee chair for the festival and career services coordinator for Student Employment Services at Cascade Campus, said that the campus’ friendly and diverse atmosphere is perfect for people to learn about various industries. "We place a heavy emphasis on inviting companies related to medical and science, business and government because of the number of professional and technical programs offered at Cascade,"says Coryell.Businesses attending include: Kaiser Permanente, Southwest Washington Medical Center, Electro Scientific Industries, Xerox, A-dec, Inc., Stream International, Oregon State Police, U.S. Customs, American Medical Response, Portland Fire Bureau and Mt. Hood National Forest.Employers are seeking both full- and part-time workers, as well as recruiting for summer jobs. Professional recruiters will offer employment workshops and job coaching, covering the topics of resume writing, interviewing and career transitions.
