Your Next Adventure – Rock Climbing with PCC

HILLSBORO, Ore. – You’re set for climbing success when you get started this summer with PCC in Rock Climbing, a non-credit class that instructor Joel Patterson says "is a great way to get introduced to this popular outdoor sport."All equipment will be supplied. In the first three classes, participants receive hands-on training on an indoor wall and learn the fundamentals of climbing – top roping, knot and harnesses, anchors and relay systems. An outside climb at Broughton Bluff in Lewis and Clark State Park near Troutdale follows. The three-week class is scheduled for Thursday, July 5 through 19, from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., with the outdoor climb set for Saturday, July 21. A second session will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 through 26, 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., with the outdoor climb at the park on Saturday, Aug. 18. The tuition is $45. A $25 fee is payable to Hawthorne Farms Athletic Club at the first class for use of the equipment. Hawthorne Farms is located at 4800 N.E. Belknap Court in Hillsboro.
