Survival English, Photography, Alternative Healing Classes Slated

ST. HELENS, Ore. – Non-credit classes in basic English, beginning photography and alternative healing are being offered this fall by Portland Community College in St. Helens.Survival English Level I will meet from 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 25 through Dec.13, in Room SAC at Lewis and Clark Elementary School, 1051 Columbia Blvd., St. Helens. The class is free and open to the public. Instructor Flavio Ortiz will introduce basic English to non-native speakers. No English speaking skills are required. Registration and testing will be conducted the first night of class. Photography Beginning will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 25 through Oct. 30, in Room B49 at St. Helens High School, 2375 Gable Road. Cost is $38.50. Instructor Alisa Tetreault will help students develop skills in photography still life, in indoor and outdoor settings, using both color and black and white film. She will present the basic functions of a manual camera and also discuss lighting techniques and framing options. Weekly photo assignments will be given.Alternative Healing Techniques will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 27 through Dec. 6, in Room B56 at St. Helens High School. The cost is $62.50.
