TWO ITEMS: PCC Course to Heighten Enjoyment of Theater Plays

ST. HELENS, Ore. – An informative Portland Community College class will help people who want to enhance their enjoyment of plays, including tragedies and comedies, as literature. The three-credit course, Introduction to Literature, will run from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m. on Tuesdays from Jan. 8 to March 19 in Room 6 at Vernonia High School, 299 Bridge St. The class will also be offered from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m. on Wednesdays between Jan. 9 to March 20 in Room B46. Cost is $130.50.The class will help students increase understanding of conventions of drama and the theater and explore the human experience. Students must be placed into WR 121 for a prerequisite to the class. Testing for WR 121 will be offered in St. Helens. Then Portland Community College has just the class for you.This winter the college will offer the three-credit offering, History of the United States II, from 6:30 to 9:40 p.m. on Mondays between Jan. 7 and March 18 in Room B46 of St. Helens High School, 2375 Gable Road. Instructor Julie Lay will focus on cause and effect, significant trends and movements related to political, social and economic ideas and events between 1840 to 1914. Cost is $130.50.
